Nothing About Us Without Us. When we Organize, We Win!
FOFP was created with the vision of making Fonde Park and the community it serves, namely SN 69: A vibrant, holistically well community. Corinne Fonde believed in Recreation as a means of Civic Engagement. In order to represent the voices of SN 69 we need to come together as a community and re-activate it.

What is a Superneighborhood?
Super neighborhoods were created to encourage residents of neighboring communities to work together to identify, prioritize and address the needs and concerns of the broader community. This creates a manageable framework for community action and allows the city to provide services more efficiently. The Super Neighborhood program was initially launched under the city’s Planning and Development department. The program was codified in the city's Municipal Code under Chapter 33, ARTICLE VIII.
The City of Houston provides oversight of the Super Neighborhood Initiative through the Mayor’s Assistance Office (MAO) division of the Department of Neighborhoods. The city’s authority, influence, and/or assistance is limited to general information and guidance to Super Neighborhood Organizations (SNO) in formation, by-laws, and operation.

LOCATION: Gulfgate/Pine Valley is a collection of neighborhoods inside Loop 610 south of the Gulf Freeway. It is criss-crossed by older highways, such as Telephone Road and the city’s first by-pass, the Old Spanish Trail/Wayside combination.
COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY: These highways, along with a major rail line and Brays Bayou, divide the area into a number of discrete neighborhoods. The largest of these, Pine Valley, Freeway, and Riverview consist of single family homes surrounded by light industrial buildings and warehouses. Gulfgate, one of Houston’s first malls, located on the eastern edge of the area, is being completely redeveloped as part of a tax increment reinvestment zone to revitalize what had been a failing retail district.
